At Snig we love to research the roots, the senses and our heritage and we profoundly appreciate our colleagues who also do so. Today we wanted to share the great pieces of Ukrainian type design which we often use in our concepts and projects. Even you might know all them well and might seen in use multiple times yet do you know who stands behind each bar, serif and tail? Let’s get a closer look at our favs of blue and yellow fonts.
The font is based on historical forms of the 11th century Cyrillic alphabet, which uses the characteristic shapes and serifs of the time. We used it in the hajster project. Check it live: hajster.com
Agnets Type is a modern display font. We used it in the Ukrainian Christmas cards project. Check it live: christmas.snig.digital
MacPaw developed two internal fonts to emphasize this duality: the grotesque Fixel and the accented Hoover.“Fixel and Hoover are the names of two cats that have lived with MacPaw for over a decade and have become an integral part of our family.”
In 2023, it received the Typographic Excellence Certificate award in the occasion of the 69th edition of the Type Directors Club competition.
CY GROTESK is the result of a combination of the clear forms of the European neo-grotesques of the mid-twentieth century and the expressiveness of the grotesque.
The typeface was created by Dmytro Rastvortsev in 2018 for the National Art Museum of Ukraine, after researching the museum's collection and ancient lettering. It has several drawings that correspond to different eras.
The Univermag typeface was created based on the exterior signage of the Kharkiv Central Department Store. The building was designed by architect Movshovich in 1952.
Neutral Face Sans Serif Font is an elegant sans serif font with a beautiful contrast. It’s a contemporary sans serif typeface inspired by Swiss style.
